The process of getting braces is something that changes your life completely. You’ll end up with a spectacular smile that will be the envy of all your friends who never got braces. On top of that, you’ll have much healthier, stronger teeth than you otherwise would if they weren’t straightened.
But when should you start your orthodontic treatment? Well, there are a lot of different aspects that go into making the decision on when to get braces. Let’s take a look at a few of them.
Adult teeth
Generally, your dentist will recommend that you get braces when all of your adult teeth have come in. However, if your adult teeth aren’t all out yet and you still need other work done – like expanding your palate, or treating tongue thrust – then Dr. Bryan and Dr. Davis may start you on a treatment schedule sooner.
Age
Here at Northwest Dental Associates in Medford, Oregon, we’re dedicated to providing our patients with the best service possible. Part of that means ensuring our patients can take care of their orthodontic hardware. That’s why we will take into account the age of a patient before moving forward with braces. You need to be old enough to both be aware of the potential issues that can arise from not caring for braces, and the need to do so.
We know that this process can seem a bit daunting, but we’re here to help you through it all. If you have any questions, or need to schedule an appointment, call us today at 541-779-3993.
